Best Amsterdam Coffee Shops
Visit
the Very Best
Amsterdam Coffee Shops While In Town
Finding the best coffee shops in
Amsterdam is not an easy
task. Known for its liberal viewpoints on matters spanning the use of
hallucinogenics
to prostitution, hundreds of thousands of people visit Amsterdam annually. Although not nearly
all
visitors to Amsterdam focus their trip around the country’s
lax drug laws, many
of the tourists are in search of Amsterdam’s best coffee
shops and the
beautiful wares that they provide.
Locating
the absolute best of the Amsterdam
coffee shops
will require a little knowledge. Mainly just a nice map of the city and
the
addresses and general locations of some good Amsterdam
coffee shops. It is entirely
beneficial to know these since, contrary to popular belief, Amsterdam
is not a weed heaven by any stretch
of the imagination. A majority of the weed sold as premium strains
doesn’t even
resemble high-quality marijuana, and a lot more of it that does at
least appear
to be of decent quality, is found to be extremely dry once taken out of
the bag
and cured very poorly. Even in some of the places I will soon list as
the best
coffee shops in Amsterdam
today, some of the
weed can’t compare to the connoisseur strains of Humboldt or
the experienced
personal grows within British Columbia.
Places like the Bulldog and Prix D’Ami have
increasingly been selling below-mediocre beasters at 11 or 12 euro a
gram
prices.
In this light, we must stand up and
support the
best Amsterdam
coffee shops that continually
provide both tourists and locals with some of the greatest marijuana in
not
only Amsterdam,
but a good majority of the World. I have compiled a list of three of
the best
coffee shops located in Amsterdam:
Greenhouse
Centrum:
Year in and
year out, the Greenhouse Centrum has effectively maintained the title
of one of
the best coffee shops in Amsterdam.
With numerous Cannabis Cup winners on its menu at any given time, its
extensive
list of both hash and weed items always aims to please. Located on
Oudezijds
Voorburgwal, it is considered by many to be the nicest coffee shops
between the
Dam
Square
and Red Light District.
It has
numerous bubble and ice-o-later hashes available, ranging from 12 euro
to 65
euro a gram, such as Moroccan Ice and one called Bubble Mania. The
coffee shop’s
current top-shelf strains are Arjan’s Strawberry Haze and a
hydro-cultivated
strain called Cheese. It’s eclectic, large purple menu offers
20 kinds of weed
and 10 types of hash, helping to secure its title as one of the best Amsterdam
coffee shops.
De
Dampkring:
This
connoisseur heaven is one of the best Amsterdam
coffee shops available. With prices on weed peaking at 12 euro a gram,
it’s a
one-stop shop for some of the best strains in the city at fairly
reasonable
prices. It’s current top three strains are all haze
varieties, including Mako,
Neville’s & Hawaiian. The hashish offered by De
Dampkring is good, but
pales in comparison to both the selection and the quality of its
marijuana
counterparts.
Still,
though, being one of the best coffee shops in Amsterdam,
it has delicious Umma Gumma hash at only 7.50 a
gram and six different kinds of Rifman
hash, which is high-quality, professionally manufactured hashish in the
hills
of Morocco.
Since its inception in 1993, both De Dampkring’s owners as
well as its
employees have strived to make their business the best coffee shop in Amsterdam.
Grey Area:
A virtual
mecca for American tourists, a few locals & foreigners of all
kinds, this
good Amsterdam
coffee shop is known for its quality and award-winning strains. My
personal
favourite is the Grey Crystal Nederhash, which is simply unpressed
trichomes
that perfectly compliment any bowl or joint of pure weed. With moderate
prices
and unique, award-winning varieties such as Chocolope and Big Buddha
Cheese,
Grey Area has been labelled one of the best coffee shops in all of Amsterdam.
Established
in 1994 by two American entrepreneurs known as “The
Chiefs,” this coffee shop
has always been known for its well-grown and cured marijuana that it is
supplied with. This fact, in conjunction with the business savvy and
good
customer service that Grey Area has always provided, is the reason it
will
always be on the top of list for the best Amsterdam
coffee shops.
There
you have it, my top three list of the best coffee shops in Amsterdam
that have continually provided good service & marijuana to the
city for over 15 years.
